![]() ![]() ![]() One of the best overall KOA campgrounds I’ve stayed at over many years. I will definitely return here in the future. The campground has a total of 75 campsites and supports tents, RVs, and trailers. It is a mile from the highway and 3 miles from both Fern Canyon and Gold Bluffs Beach. Visitors to the park enjoy watching and photographing Roosevelt elk, walking along trails though old-growth redwoods, strolling along miles of scenic beach, and viewing wildflowers in bloom in late spring. The Elk Prairie Campground is a breathtaking camping site located in Orick, California within the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. But leaving the windows open until bedtime kept the Cabin cool and comfortable. Elk Prairie Campground is at the heart of Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park north of Eureka. The only thing that would have made this even better would have been a ceiling fan or small A/C in the cabin. The campground and facilities were clean, well maintained and comfortable. The staff was fantastic and completely guest focused. The mattresses are standard KOA Cabin mattresses (throw a Futon Mattress on it for extra comfort) and you bring your own bedding. The location is just outside of Grand Lake and minutes from the Rocky Mountain National Park West Entrance (I saw 11 Moose, some Deer and a Black Bear all within 15 minutes of the campground). There is a store with ample camping supplies, clean bathrooms with individual showers, a game room, a TV room, outdoor sinks, a small dog park, outdoor grills, a basketball hoop and more. But, sitting on the patio of cabin 12, especially with the amazing night sky, was perfect for what I needed. The campground is situated in a mature pine forest in the Clearwater National Forest, next to Elk Creek, at an elevation of about 3,000 feet. The cabins in the first loop (cabins 5-10) offered a little more separation. Enough space between cabins to offer some privacy. The cabin was on the edge of the campground and I spent a great deal of time on the patio watching for Moose (a deer walked right through the campground much to everyone’s surprise one day). From Redding, California drive 63 miles east on State Highway 44 to Old Station. Learn more about gear rental options for your trip. For campground inquiries, please call: 530 595-6121. There was a grill, fire ring, picnic table and parking outside the cabin. LASSEN VOLCANIC NP PO BOX 100 MINERAL CA 96063. It was a basic cabin with a Queen size bed and a bunk bed with single beds, corner shelves, a table with 4 chairs and a portable heater. I mentioned some of what was happening at home and the staff related and was very supportive. Check in was easy and the staff was very friendly. I booked 3 nights in a cabin with the desire to get away and clear my head from family issues going on at home. This campground is new to the KOA family and a great addition. Melia Internacional Varadero All Inclusive. The campground itself doesn’t have any old-growth redwoods most sites are in the shade of leafy hardwood trees just outside the old-growth forest. Barcelo Bavaro Palace All Inclusive Resort Built in the 1930s when the park was first opened, Elk Prairie has a pleasant, woodsy small-campground feel and central location that you don’t get in newer campgrounds.Hotels near Sarah Chabot Mountain Soul Wellness. The campground was almost full, so I was apprehensive and not looking forward to it.
